How is your Wal-Mart doing?

In order for Wal-Mart to be an environmentally responsible company, it must meet its commitment to build and maintain environmentally sustainable stores. Wal-Mart has stated ambitious goals for eliminating waste, lowering emissions and using entirely renewable energy at its stores.

It is Wal-Mart Watch’s mission to hold Wal-Mart accountable for its environmental promises. To that end, we are asking activists around the country to visit a local Wal-Mart store and describe their experiences. We ask that you survey the store, ask to speak with the store manager and report back your experiences. We will then post results on our blog to hold Wal-Mart accountable for their promises.

Wal-Mart has set a goal to produce “zero waste.” Please describe your impressions of Wal-Mart’s recycling program. Are large dumpsters of otherwise-recyclable trash outdoors? How does the store manager describe the store’s recycling program?:

Outdoor products left uncovered are a huge problem in causing runoff of toxins into waterways and drinking water supply. Are their any outdoor products—including fertilizer or dumpsters—in the parking lot? Are they covered or uncovered? Please describe:
